Biënnale Kijkduin

In June, Kijkduin will be transformed into an outdoor museum showcasing glass, light and nature. More than twenty artists from eight countries will be exhibiting their monumental glass and light installations on the boulevard, in the dunes and on the Deltaplein. And there will also be space for young designers, working in their own individual ways on innovative glass and light art.
 
CHEMISTRY – Creating new Worlds
Renowned artists and designers will be experimenting around the topical theme ‘CHEMISTRY – Creating new Worlds’. This theme has got the Biennale into the programme of the International Year of Chemistry 2011. This year, the United Nations and UNESCO are promoting chemistry internationally: it’s a science that contributes to the improvement of a livable, healthy, safe and sustainable society. The Biennale artists will be depicting the world of chemical research through modern glass and light installations. After sunset, the artworks will be lit up with LED lights powered by the energy generated during the day from energy-saving solar thermal connectors.
