Lustrum edition of The Hague Festivals packed with variety

Monday 25 July - More than 800,000 visitors

The Hague, 1 July– For an entire month The Hague has been a multi-festival venue. Over the past five years, the Hague Festivals has become a household name — in and beyond The Hague.  During the festival period, now in its fifth year, the entertainment was more diverse than ever: familiar faces as well as charming new initiatives added a sparkle to the city where an array of Chinese influences could also be admired. In true tradition, the festival was brought to a close during Parkpop. A total of over 800,000 visitors travelled to the city to experience one of the many festivals.

A number of events managed to attract even more visitors than in previous years; Festival Classique was rewarded for its creativity during the programme and saw visitor numbers rise to 45,000. The lustrum edition of ShoppingNight also scored high on the list of visitor numbers as the city swarmed with shopping enthusiasts. It was a successful evening for bargain hunters and business owners alike, with a total of 110,000 visitors. PopHotSpot also had plenty of visitors and managed to achieve an additional 5,000 visitors. The Parkpop line-up enjoyed good weather, resulting in a total of 275,000 festival-goers.

The Hague Festivals have become increasingly diverse each year. Large and small festivals transformed the fifth edition into a cheerful, harmonious whole that drew a wide range of visitors. Summer Spirit, Streets of the World, Poëzie op Pootjes, Biënnale Kijkduin, Boekids Literair Jeugdfestival and Nacht van de Vluchteling all joined the ranks of this unified whole.
