Parkpop

Whoever says the words ‘pop music’ must be referring to The Hague! And whoever brings pop music and The Hague together, must be referring to Parkpop! The last Sunday in June is traditionally reserved for Parkpop, the biggest, free pop festival in Europe, and, this year, the Zuiderpark in The Hague is playing host to the 30th edition on Sunday 27 June!

One hundred thousand visitors
In 1981 Parkpop started with one stage and 15,000 visitors. Nowadays, it is a festival with an international flavour, three stages, one hundred thousand visitors and even has a junior version the day before called Kinder Parkpop.

International celebrity
The Zuiderpark is kicking up its heels again this year and providing a day crammed with music, people and conviviality. The annual Parkpop line-up is exceptionally good and has included many national and international celebrities such as Sheryl Crow, Kim Wilde, Robbie Williams, Ilse DeLange, Guus Meeuwis, Marco Borsato and Elvis Costello. The line-up for 2010 for Parkpop’s three stages will soon be released on its website.

Road to Xstage
Parkpop has already started recruiting bands via the popular Road to Parkpop. With this scheme, Parkpop gives a few performance slots to urban talent that is just starting out. Do you want the chance to take up your position on the XStage? Then register before 1 May 2010!
