Last year, the press wrote that there would be no Pink Saturday during The Hague Festivals in 2010. The success of Roze Zaterdag (Pink Saturday), like The Hague Pride, is however taking on a new form. This new festival, with a pink heart, will offer a broad range of artists on the Lange Voorhout on Saturday 12 June.
Celebratory festival with a serious message
From cheerful sing-a-longs to alternative pop. From extrovert to the shy, retiring type. From DJs to classical. The Pink Market (information market) will also be there. The Straight Forward Area focuses primarily on young people and in addition to DJs, offers stand-up comedy and a place to discuss education, health and the subject ‘human rights are gay rights’. This statement seems perfectly logical but, in practice, it is often not the case. The Hague, international city of Justice & Peace, is exactly the place where this topic should receive some attention.
