Ut Haags Notûh Festival is the music festival at which amateur musical groups from The Hague can perform to the city’s residents. There will be groups from various cultures, including harmony, fanfare and symphony orchestras, drum bands and accordion or cither groups and also Latin brass bands, hindipop or Irish folk groups, all of whom form part of The Hague’s amateur music scene. On Sunday 13 June, the festival will be held for the fourth time. Last year, thousands of visitors flocked to the free festival which takes place around the Grote Kerk.
Six stages
The musical groups perform on six outdoor stages around the Grote Kerk from 12.00 onwards while, in the Nutshuis (opposite the Grote Kerk, on the Riviervismarkt), you can see smaller ensembles. Drum bands will pass through the city at various times in order to lead the audience to this once-day musical centre.
Workshops
On the Saturday preceding the festival, 12 June, the Koorenhuis is organising three workshops, one each for tango, klezmer and latin, for participants and interested parties and, under the leadership of professional music teachers, a short performance will be prepared for one of the stages at the festival.
Final performance
At the end of the afternoon, there will be an astonishing final performance where all of the participating orchestras, groups and bands will come together.
Ut Haags Notûh Festival aims to stimulate and expand the quality and continuity of amateur music in The Hague and build bridges to amateur musicians in all Hague cultures.
