Within the context of The Hague Festivals, the Zandacademie (Sand Academy) will be bringing to life the theme of ‘Ode to the Dutch Masters’ in a life-size sand sculpture in the square at the Buitenhof in the centre of The Hague. The creation of the sculpture will provide a contribution towards The Hague’s interpretation of the national, annual theme ‘Holland Art Cities’, which puts Dutch Masters such as Rembrandt, Van Gogh and Vermeer under the spotlight.
Dutch Masters
An international team of artists from Russia, the Ukraine, the Netherlands, Britain and the Czech Republic will work together on their interpretation of 5 works by the Dutch Masters in a sand sculpture measuring approximately 25 by 8 metres and about 8 metres high.
